Georgia Mineral Society

Welcome to the Cobb County Civic Center!

Ok, so I have a lot of pictures to show! Where to start? Um...

I got an opal ring!
I got it from the same stand my parents got me a turquoise bracelet last year, Massachusetts Bay Trading Company. They mostly sell Navajo jewelry made in the Southwest, super cool and right up my alley. It was so hard to decide between the opal and this beautiful off-center turquoise ring. I went with the opal because I already have turquoise jewelry and no opal. So, I spent the money my brother gave me on it. The Trading Company doesn't have a website, but they have two locations, one in Blue Ridge and one in Dahlonega. Nowhere near Atlanta, but worth the drive, without a doubt. Give them a call at either 772-971-8154 or 678-779-2110, ask for Jacie Davis and tell her you saw this blog.

Here are some photos from their booth!

Dad and I were bothered by this grumpy college professor
who had some really cool glow in the dark rocks. He was a frustrating person but had some cool things to show us.

Of course, Mom found some things. She's really into giant geode rocks. They're bubbles in the Earth from lava. They form pretty purple crystals that she has four of. There was this guy there who had two boxes full of mini-geodes that you could cut in half right there in the Civic Center. After she found the perfect rock, she turned into the epitome of excited. Literally.

Here she is tightening the chain which cracks the rock in half.

Right after it cracked.

Mama Lamb's rock!

Did I mention there was a baby raccoon there that this one handyman rescued and is on his way to taking the baby to a wild animal sanctuary?

Try to make it out on Mother's Day but even if you don't, have a good one!
